Sales and Orders

How do I place an order?
For fastest processing, orders may be placed through our secure shopping cart system. We also accept orders by phone or fax. Orders can be faxed to (585) 475-4090. To place orders by phone, call (585) 475-5819, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Eastern time. Orders of in-stock items are normally processed one business day after they are received. Alternatively, you may download our order form and return it by fax or mail.

Can I view and purchase items in person?
Yes! We are located on the second floor of Wallace Library at RIT. For Summer 2024, our hours are 9am–4:30pm Monday–Thursday; Fridays are by appointment only. Please email or call 585-475-6766 to ensure we are available. Visitors to the RIT campus, please see this parking information.

How can I purchase greeting cards, letterpress notecards, and other gift items?
Due to website limitations, we are not able to offer gift items on this website at this time. If you are interested in ordering these items, please email us at and we can assist you.

How can I order a complimentary copy for review or possible course adoption?
A limited number of complimentary copies are available for professional reviews and possible course adoption. Please email Laura DiPonzio Heise at with details of your request. Review copy terms can be found here.

Payments and Sales Terms

What forms of payment do you accept?
RIT Press uses PayPal to process online payments. A PayPal account is not needed to check out; you may use a credit card for payment.

Will I be charged sales tax?
Sales tax is charged to orders shipped within New York State. If you are ordering from a tax-exempt organization, please submit your order via email, fax, or phone only.

What are the shipping options and charges?
Shipping charges are based on package weight and destination. To ensure packages are trackable, we ship via FedEx.

Do you ship worldwide?
Yes, we do. Many of our titles are also stocked by our international distributor, Boydell & Brewer, and ordering through them may result in lower shipping costs for customers outside of North America. You will see the button “Other Retailers: Boydell & Brewer” on books that have this option.

Do I need permission to republish or reprint material from RIT Cary Graphic Arts Press or RIT Press publications?
Yes. To request permission to republish RIT Cary Graphic Arts Press or RIT Press publications, send an email request to In your request, please include complete information concerning the material to be republished including author, title, complete description of material to be reprinted, and a brief description of your project. If the requested material is to be used in a course pack, please indicate the expected enrollment. If it is to be reprinted in a book, indicate the proposed print run and price, and the expected date of publication.
